Racing

So I've been really bad about updating our blog.  Back in May our Church had a Memorial Day race 5k, 1 mile, and 1/2 mile.  Aaron signed up for the 5k and Tucker begged me to sign him up for the 1/2 mile race.  I didn't think Ethan's little legs could carry him for 1/2 a mile, so I didn't even bother asking him if we would like to.  The morning of the race as we are signing in, Ethan throws a big fit because I didn't sign him up.  Thankfully the kid race was really flexible and I could sign him up on the spot.  Both boys were really eager to start the race, but as I thought Ethan got pooped out really quick.  Luckily for Ethan though he has a sweet Daddy that scooped him up and put him on his shoulders and helped him finish the race.  Way to go sweetheart! The boys had a blast and were so thrilled to get their very own bib numbers and medals at the end of the race.

Crossing the finish line!

Crossing the finish line...Ethan style.

The weekend following Memorial Day weekend Aaron ran his first 1/2 marathon in Kansas City.  I must say that I was really jealous, but it was his turn after all.  We were nervous how he was going to do because he didn't get to truly train due to school.  The race is also called "Hospital Hill Run" and has killer hills one right after the other.  I am very pleased to say that Aaron ran his race in 2 hours and 38 minutes.  That was only 1 minute more than my time and I thoroughly trained for 12 straight weeks.  I guess he does have the benefit of those long legs. :)  Way to go Aaron we are so proud of you!!!

He just looks so thrilled at 5:15 to go and start his race. :)

 Hooray he finished!!!

Now for the stretching after a very long run....or rather just a nap. :)

After we took Aaron back to the hotel to freshen up, we went out to eat at train burger joint.  Tucker was DYING to eat there since he saw it the day before and we thought we would treat the boys out.  It was a pretty cool place.  It had miniature electric trains that drove around through cities.  The restaurant had customers order through a phone on the table and a train would deliver it from the ceiling.  I am having prego brain at the moment and can only recall that it started with an "f".  There is also one here in St. Louis that we think we will revisit for Mr. T's big birthday.
